1  iPod Forum / iPod Accessories / Re: Wireless speaker. on: November 11, 2007, 01:09:16 pm
Wireless speakers are an interesting beast.
On one hand, it is nice to not have a speaker wire running to the source.
but on the other hand, audio quality is lost it translation from wire to air back to wire again.
On top of it all, now the speaker needs a power source. So that actually adds MORE wires to the equation, just that the wires are confined to the location of the speaker and not having to run over various distances back to the source.
2  iPhone Forum / iPhone Chat / Re: iPhone Commericals on: November 11, 2007, 01:03:38 pm
I was watching one of the commercials and noticed they demonstrated the many touch features of the iphone. I saw the zoom feature where you had to use 2 fingers making a gesture to zoom in on a picture/etc. I have never used or tested an iphone but it seems as though the touch feature would be a pain in the ass having to deal with such a small screen and gestures such as the one mentioned, maybe i'm wrong
3  General Area / General Discussion / Re: Google phone rumored on: November 11, 2007, 12:55:08 pm
Yes, their direction is mainly in creating a cellphone software in which their various google apps can integrate nicely, and are mainly looking for a phone manufacturer to partner with.
If we are not careful, google may just take over the world!!

Well, while there is a difference in audio quality between different mp3/whatever players....the main factor limiting a decent quality and awesome quality sound is your medium of listening to the music played, whether it is the speakers or the headphones being used.
That's just my 2 cents.
5  Apple Forum / General Chat / Apple trailers on: November 02, 2007, 02:20:44 pm
Do you watch the trailers at Apple.com?

I visit their site often to watch new movie trailers that are released.
And recently, now that I have an HDTV, I have been watching their high definition trailers.

I was just there last night and watched all the new trailers.
American Gangsters, The Prestige, and Lions for Lambs are the movies that look really good to me.
6  iPod Forum / iPod Accessories / Re: Some iPod accessories just don't work... on: November 02, 2007, 02:12:53 pm
I haven't heard about this. But I have heard about people who are mad about certain Ipod accessories that they currently own not working with their brand new iphone which they were expecting to work since the iphone is also an ipod.

I don't even own an iphone so I don't know if this is true or not, but maybe this is what you had heard.
It seems unlikely and inefficient for ipod accessories to not be forwards compatible with newer ipods
7  iPhone Forum / iPhone Chat / Re: 10 Reasons To Buy An iPhone on: November 01, 2007, 05:49:11 am
Almost convinces me to buy it.
I would have to test it first at least, not completely sure about how 'user friendly' the touchscreen interface is

That and my current phone has a MUCH better camera on it, and I use it VERY frequently.
I would not want to downgrade that feature.

Apparently the video you posted is private now.......  Huh

But I think I get the jist of the video from the posts.

I bought the NANO back when I was first introduced, and there was a big issue going on at first about how easy the NANO would get scratched.
A class action lawsuit was even thrown at Apple because of it. I don't remember the outcome of it all, but shortly after I bought mine they started shipping protective cases for the nanos (originally they came with nothing)

I came across this article in my travels today discussing how Google is rumored to be planning to enter the mobile phone market releasing a phone tailored to all their web products/apps

Google challenge to iPhone just weeks away

By James Quinn
Last Updated: 10:29am GMT 31/10/2007

Internet search engine Google is set to follow Apple in to the lucrative mobile phone market.

Google is reported to be just weeks away from launching its own handset, detailing a blueprint which would lead to a launch at some point in mid-2008.

The search engine giant is believed to want to create its own mobile phone to harness all its various applications.

So, in the same way that users of Apple's iPhone can use it as an iPod or as a junior iMac, so Google phone users would be able to use a number of its applications such as Google Earth and YouTube while on the move.

Part of the excitement surrounds the fact that Google wants to keep its software open, allowing external software developers to build and add-on additional features.

While Google itself declines to comment, market chatter surrounding the Google phone has now become so intense that the majority of commentators agree that some form of work has to be going on.

However, France Telecom, which had been linked as a potential handset provider for the Google phone, yesterday formally denied it was in talks with the search engine provider.

The other firm which has been linked as Google's US telecoms partner for the venture is T-Mobile, owned by Deutsche Telekom.

In the US, Apple has teamed up with AT&T to provide the iPhone while in the UK it will hook up with O2 for network services.

Detractors from the Google phone theory suggest the company may merely be working on operating software that can then be used by phone companies.

In any case, Google's shares traded up $18.37 at $697.60 on the heightened speculation in addition to recent strong third-quarter results. The company is now valued at $212bn. (£102.5bn).
