1  iPhone Forum / iPhone Accessories / Can I add some more programs to my shiny new iPhone? on: December 04, 2007, 08:52:29 am
The iPhone is a very dynamic device and offers a very intuitive and revolutionary user experience. As part of the package the iPhone come pre-loaded with a bunch of applications designed to make life with your iPhone and away from your computer much easier.
To add functionality to your iPhone you are left with little options, there aren’t many iphone downloads as such. So far we will probably have to wait for whatever Apple decides to issue in their software updates; however there are a number of web-based applications that run on the iPhone.
When the iPhone was released there was no SDK (Software Development Kit.) Most phones have this so third parties can design and make applications to enhance phone’s capabilities. Apple didn’t because they thought it could compromise the stability of the iPhone. This led to the birth of an underground hacking community.
Through this community a number of utilities have been released which let you install applications onto your iPhone. This involves “jail breaking” the iPhone which Apple has said will void your warranty if you happen to “brick” (lock) the iPhone.
There are a number of iPhone utilities that will help you in installing applications that have been made from the hackers and aren’t too hard to find on Google if you really want to take the risk. However, for those of us not willing to risk ruining our shiny new toy rest at ease – Apple has announced that in January of 2008 it will be releasing a SDK to interested developers to make (legal) applications for your iPhone.

2  Apple Forum / General Chat / What it will cost to get an iPhone on: December 04, 2007, 08:50:06 am
There a number of deals available for the  iPhone at the moment depending on where you live. In here we are going to focus on the two biggest ones – the plans offered by AT&T in the United States and O2 Mobile in the United Kingdom.

First up is AT&T in the US. If you are a new customer you have three plans to choose from. With all plans you must first buy the iPhone for $399 USD. You can then pick out one of the following plan options.

All plans include unlimited data usage on the AT&T network and all customers’ sign up to a two year contract no matter the plan.
Next, O2 offer similar plans for customers in the United Kingdom. Again, these plans feature unlimited data usage on the O2 network, but customers are only committed to an 18 month contract.

iPhone deals are rather limited at the moment because both O2 and AT&T have exclusive contracts to carry the iPhone in their respective countries.

3  News Section / iPhone News / Why the world is still in love with the iPhone on: December 04, 2007, 08:43:28 am
Half a year after the release of the Apple iPhone and the world is still asking for more. The iPhone became the fastest selling phone ever for AT&T in the US. But still people are asking: “What’s so cool about it?”
Other phones have the same features as the iPhone and then some in some cases. However it’s not just the hardware, it’s the experience you get whilst using it that makes the iPhone so spectacular and such a successful piece of consumer electronics.
Many people initially have doubts about using the on screen keyboard, but after only a few days of use not only is it easy to use, but it’s very intuitive and a lot more dynamic than anything on any other phone.
What helps make the iPhone is that it’s just so much more. It’s a great iPod that plays videos and streams from YouTube on its wonderful screen. It also gives you the internet in your pocket via the Safari web browser, the very same used on Apples Computers. This gives you dynamic and accessible cell phone Internet access.
The slew of iPhone accessories and downloads that are already available for the iPhone only help increase its mass appeal.  The simple fact is that using the iPhone doesn’t get old. That’s why the world is still in love with the Apple iPhone.

With the introduction of the Apple iPhone (now the fastest selling consumer device ever,) there has been a massive introduction of accessories. A lot of these accessories are from third party suppliers like Belkin but every one of them for sale on the Apple website is certified by Apple for use with the iPhone.
iPhone accessories include: cases, headphones, docking stations, Bluetooth headsets, speakers and in car accessories. The iPhone has opened up a whole new market for accessories that increase the portability and usefulness of your iPhone.
iPhone cases can not only change the look of your iPhone as some are offered in different colors, but can add grip and even make the iPhone more resistant to bumps and scratches. Many cases include side grips to help users hold the iPhone.
One iPhone case even bulks up the iPhone so that if it is dropped it won’t be damaged at all. Some cases are even attached to an arm band so you can go exercising with your iPhone attached to you and playing your music.
You can buy new headphones similar to those available to the iPod to enhance your music listening experience. Also, car adapters are available to plus in your iPhone and use it to listen to your music, and run the phone through your car stereo.
These iPhone accessories make it even easier to take and use your iPhone everywhere you go, and make your experience all the more fun.
