The iPhone will play the higher quality h.264 video format for youTube videos. The press release claims that h.264 was chosen "to achieve higher video quality and longer battery life on mobile devices". Some 10,000 YouTube videos have already been re-encoded to the new standards with the remaining clips expected to be complete by fall. Apple have also updated their iPhone pages with a demo of YouTube on iPhone and a new YouTube icon filling in the 12th spot on the iPhone's application list.

Would't it just be easier to purchase it through the Apple online store? It may take a few days to have it in hand, but you'd still get it. Oh well - I guess I'm not the ideal 'gotta-have-it-first' guy.

I myself, was very glad when Apple annouced this. At first, I was skeptical because of no 3G but, it isn't that bad with EDGE and of course, I use Youtube almost everyday now. There hasn't been a day when I did not go to Youtube!
