Does this sound new to you? I think not. Apple seems to be getting sued by everyone – big AND small.

Example A: Dongmei Li, New York, is suing Apple for one million dollars. She says that she has been discriminated against by Apple because she paid the full price – what, a rebate isn’t enough for you? It’s said that this is a violation of price discrimination laws, but there aren’t any statutes in place to protect consumers from price discrimination…

Example B: The European commission wants iTunes to have one flat rate for all European consumers, not different prices for different countries. Apparently they won against Microsoft. If Apple doesn’t work this out, they could be fined 10% of their global revenue, no mean sum. They say the inflexible price dictated by record labels are to blame.

Apple’s coming under attack, but do you think it is unjust?

Hmmm... It's pretty hard to generalize on whether it's right or not right to sue Apple.

This Dongmei Li woman is a bit weird. I mean, how many times does Steve Jobs have to apologize and offer money to you etc?
On the other hand, that entire episode of the iPhone's history is a bit dodgy. The price drop may have come a little too soon. Again, it comes down to the individual customer. If you're a hardcore fan and feel that you've been screwed over by Apple, then the lawsuit may be important to stop other companies from doing the same. Unlikely, but hopeful...

The European commission case is more important. You can't charge people different prices just because they live in different countries. But this is a problem that faes the entire record industry - they really have to stop being so greedy. It'll change over time, but record labels seriously need to get with the times. That's my two cents Wink

I think her claims are unjustified. Seriously, Apple lowered the price and even offered to give money back. What more do you want? I seriously think she is only into the suing just for two main reasons:

1. Fame - What if she wins? People will start to know her I guess...
2. Money - Seriously I think she will lose but if she wins, her greed will come back to haunt her one day.

I agree. There's no point in sueing apple if they've already tried to meet your requests, it looks like they were quite nice to her. It's probably just another gloryhunter whose going to lose anyway.

Yes, I think Microsoft or some big company is behind all this as any thing which Apple does is being SUED. First it was the i-Phone and all this. Apple will solve this also but its not good to sue Apple every time they want to do something.
